Focus your mind with your breath

In this 90-minute masterclass led by Sylvie Horvath of Soul Dimension, you will be guided to experience how to calm, heal, and transform your mind to work for you, rather than against you. The simple practices you will learn AND experience will empower you with the tools to feel your best, and be your best!

Modern and ancient wisdom

You’ll learn ancient yogic wisdom meets modern science knowledge to harness the chaotic “monkey mind” to help you “get out of the head” and overthinking. No small feat, but you CAN do it, once you put yourself in the driver’s seat of your mind. And sure, it takes some practice… : )

According to yogic philosophy, all that is within the domain of the mind – thinking, perceptions, mental stories, ego, and emotions – is called Manomaya Kosha.

In this system, there are 5 Koshas, or “layers” of beings that represent an aspect of the human being, from the physical to the spiritual. All these layers work together and influence each other. In this masterclass, we will be focusing on how to balance the mental layer, Manomaya Kosha.

At the class, you’ll learn powerful and simple practices that will empower you to focus your mind with your breath, eye gazing, mantra/healing chants, prayer, affirmations, and deeply healing yoga nidra relaxation.

More about Manomaya Kosha & Mental Health

In yogic philosophy, including Vedanta and Ayurveda, the concept of “koshas” refers to layers or sheaths that envelop the soul or the true self. One of these koshas is the Manomaya Kosha, which translates to the “mental sheath” or “mind layer.” It is considered the second layer surrounding the Atman, the core or essence of an individual.

The Manomaya Kosha is associated with the functions of the mind, including thoughts, emotions, feelings, desires, and perceptions. It is where cognitive processes occur, such as reasoning, memory, imagination, and decision-making. This kosha is deeply intertwined with our mental health and well-being.

Here is how the Manomaya Kosha relates to mental health:

  • Thought Patterns: The Manomaya Kosha encompasses our thought patterns, which greatly influence our mental health. Negative or distorted thought patterns can lead to conditions such as anxiety, depression, or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Cultivating awareness of these patterns through practices like mindfulness can help improve mental health.
  • Emotional Regulation: Emotions reside within the Manomaya Kosha. Difficulty regulating emotions can contribute to mood disorders like bipolar disorder or difficulties coping with stress. Practices such as meditation and breathwork can help individuals develop emotional regulation skills, promoting better mental health.
  • Stress Management: Stress affects the Manomaya Kosha and can manifest as physical tension, mental fatigue, or emotional turmoil. Chronic stress can lead to various mental health issues, including anxiety disorders and burnout. Techniques like yoga, meditation, and relaxation exercises help manage stress and promote mental well-being.
  • Self-Identity and Ego: The Manomaya Kosha is where our sense of self, identity, and ego reside. Attachment to the ego can lead to issues such as low self-esteem, perfectionism, or identity crises. Practices like self-inquiry and self-awareness help individuals detach from ego identification, fostering a healthier relationship with oneself.
